It's called a transfer manifest and for high revenue passengers in particular it's common to reissue the ticket. I've navigated it twice this year with Lufthansa when travelling in economy. In one instance because of Air China being 5 hours late.

On long haul it's something Air NZ do. Domestic and Seats to Suit TT routes are essentially a high capacity bus route.
I still stand by my original comment that the expectations of the OP are beyond that of what the policy is on TT routes across both NZ and QF.
If you'd been in a similar situation situation with QF booking business and missing it QF will not as policy rebook you on Air NZ to get you to Australia even if it's the next available service and you're in a hurry to get there. Like Air NZ they have the abiltity to easily do this, but on such competitive routes choose not to do this.
