I don't know but that sounds a little excessive. The passengers were either picked up, took cabs or Uber or were bused to Midway. the same day. The plane could have been flown out the same day and back in service the next day.

Unless there was a malfunction of some kind there would have been no need to do anything to the plane except add some gas and fly to Midway. If the original Crew timed out a reserve crew would have been a Midway a short distance away.
