To answer the original question, I've been on fares with the similar change rules (also to ZRH, coincidentally) and had no problems changing it for only the fee. In my case I also changed routing from DFW-LHR-ZRH to DFW-JFK-ZRH; did you consider a change to ORD-JFK-ZRH?
