PayPal only works if you have an American Credit or Debit card when trying to pay.
The amount deducted is USD but I do have a free multi currency account here in SG
While I understand in most cases wanting to work directly with the airline rather than a third party OTA...the expedia/AA relationship appears to work different than most OTA's in my experience. Many other times when booking with a TA or OTA, I have to go back to the OTA for any and all changes, issues, problems, etc. For AA tickets issued by expedia, when I call in, or at the airport, AA handles my ticket (changes, seat assignments, upgrades, cancellations, etc.) EXACTLY the same as if I booked it direct. (My corporate policy specifies we have to use expedia for hotels and flights, which is annoying, but alas).
I have yet to find any disadvantage in booking my flights with expedia rather than directly with AA. Last year I had 225k EQMs, I already have 105k EQMs this year on 21k EQD's, but your mileage may vary. If I were running into the issue you are, I'd just use expedia.com.sg
