I am travelling with my wife and 3y old, so we cant use the e-gates. We have a 4.5hr layover before our next flight and wanted to take a trip into London. But if we have to queue for 30 minutes plus, im not so interested. I had visions of showing my next boarding pass, going up the stairs to bag security screening, and leaving via the fast track entrance. Of course, all a bit tongue in cheek but how easy is it to leave once you have gone through bag screening again for example. Thanks
While you will be able to go upstairs after showing your boarding pass, you will not then be allowed out the fast track entrance at departures

You will not be allowed to enter the UK without going past immigration in the arrivals hall.
