It'll take an hour to get into London and and hour to get back, so it's not worth it IMHO.

You should be able to use family check-in desk at T5, however, which may speed up your re-entry process.

I think it depends on your landing time and next flight. If there was 7-9hrs between them then it's a slightly different story.
