It's been a few months since my London layover.. I figured I'd report back to let you all know how it went. One thing that I totally failed to mention was that I was travelling with my little sister and my mom on this trip, and I hope my account will help anyone who's travelling with a family or even by themselves.

We were travelling on VS, and one thing I found out through a little searching is that they assign economy seats on the upper deck. I also found out they allow Basic VS Flying Club members to assign seats free of charge 48 hrs prior to departure. On the outbound, surprisingly, the upper deck was literally just us and another guy. We had I think it was around 20 seats in a private cabin almost all to ourselves. The return was interesting, because the representative told me I couldn't assign seats on the upper deck free of charge when I called to book seats for the return. I just told her that I had assigned seats on the upper deck free of charge on the inbound flight, so I should be able to do the same on the return. She was able to assign me seats after I mentioned that.

In london, we took the Gatwick Express to Victoria, walked to the Coach station, and dropped off our bags there. We were on a trip visiting family in India, so we had two huge check in bags. We also had a carry on bag each. We stored the bags at the Left Luggage area there. We then did mostly what David-A recommended, however, as mad_rich mentioned, we were tired and so didn't do the walk, instead we took the subway to Westminster. We didn't take the ferry as it was drizzling, but the rest we pretty much followed David-A's recommendation, so thank you for that.

After our full day in London(We stopped for lunch at a Subway near Tower Bridge), we retrieved our bags from left luggage, and we took the Picadilly line to Heathrow Airport. Even with our big Check in Bags, we managed to make it through. We had some trouble at the stairs for some of the stations, but we were able to lift them and make it onto the platform. It was light in the beginning of the day, and only started to drizzle around afternoon, but we were still able to get some great pictures of all the landmarks we visited.

If anyone has any questions, please let me know. Also, really big thanks to all those who helped me plan this in this thread, we couldn't have done so much in a day if it wasn't for your input.
