my mother-in-law and her wife are on a 4-week escorted tour from the US to Europe. The longhaul flights are both on scheduled BA flights. they wanted to pre-select their seats but the tour company and guide said BA didn't allow it because of the group fare they are on. on the outbound, she got decent seats, but only during airport check-in.
she just Skyped me and asked me if I could call BA(USA) to ask again... I called BA a few moments ago and was told the same thing. but the nice agent did say that their 10-hour flight back to the US next week was very lightly booked, nearly 50% empty or 50% full.
Edit: sorry, but I forgot to mention that the entire tour group of 14 people are all in Club World business class on the TATL flights. I just find it amazing that BA doesn't allow advance seat assignments.
if that's the policy, then so be it, but I"m wondering what possible reason does BA have for not allowing advance seat selection just because they are on a group tour fare?(again, on a regularly scheduled BA TATL flight)
thanks!
