You really had a trip delay, not trip interruption or cancellation.

Understood. Thank you. So what's the difference between trip interruptions and trip cancellation?
Cancellation means you never left for the trip and interruption means you had to stop in between and return?
So basically I should file for Trip Delay and I won't get anything back for the one night resort stay I lost in my final destination? But they should cover me for the one night in LAX and the one night in PPT? Or will they only be on the hook for the LAX night?
Thanks again for for all the help.
