With kids the Hampton and Homewood (in the same building) near the hospital are also options.

My choices are basically this property, Palmer House, the main Hilton Chicago, and the HGI Magnificent Mile. I only throw HGI in there because I consider it "best of the limited service" category, mainly thanks to the Weber Grill breakfast. All hotels are approx $200/nt. with taxes.

2 adults, 2 kids, Diamond status. Memorial Day weekend.

No strong preference about location within downtown, although I'm slightly drawn to this hotel's location because it seems like we're always down at the other end of Michigan Avenue (nearer the HC and PH) on our typical Chicago stays. Might be nice to do something different.

Is the lounge nice? The indoor pool looks nice, which we would use. I'm skittish of the wonky rooms we could end up with at PH or HC if we don't buy up to a higher room category. Seems like Diamond isn't good for upgrades anymore, and an all-suites hotel at least takes the variability out of the equation.
I agree with Jerry a. laska. I'm in the middle of a stay at the suites property and it's lackluster. The hotel only has 2 operational elevators and you cannot take the stairs up (how stupid is that?!) Plus the wifi sucks, I'm getting low single digit MBPS. Lounge is just OK, I've seen better. They have 2 hot items in the evenings along with nuts and other snacks.

If it were me, I would stay elsewhere.
