I imagine this is a quirk of one of BA's processes when you cancel a booking. Basically they add a 'phantom' flight at some point in the future to keep the PNR alive which - somehow - makes the back office process easier for doing any refund.

It can mean you get boarding notifications for flights you know nothing about.
