I dropped off my bag at the Sky Priority Counter at 2:05 PM before heading through TSA Pre Check and headed over through Terminal 4 to the International Terminal for plane spotting. Then I returned to the Delta Sky Club around 4:30. I was at my Departure Gate at 7:40 for a 7:50 Boarding.
I got no notification via text, Delta App or phone that my bag did not make the flight and the last flight of the night was delayed too.
How is it that Delta failed to load my bag when I checked in 24 hours in advance plus I advised them during online checkin that I was checking in 1 bag and even dropped it off before the final time?
Explain to me how in November I did a trip from San Jose CA -LAX on Delta and then transferred it to Air China and it arrived Bangkok just fine and on the return checked it into Bangkok Air from Chiang Mai to Bangkok hand delivered it to Air China retrieved it in LAX hand checked it in at LAX-SJC(and this was at 1:30 PM for a 6:30 PM flight) and it made it?
I was more than pissed because I allowed more than enough time and was present at the Boarding Gate before boarding. Why didn't anyone inform me that my bag did not make it?
I got $100 at SJC and I wrote into Delta stating that I would like more compensation as my bag arrived over 12 hours late at 2:43 PM yesterday. How can I be sure that no one tampered with my bag? It cleared TSA Security with no problem and there was no letter from the TSA that they opened my bag.
At SJC I checked my bag in at 6:30 for a 10:10 AM flight and it made it.
Delta's excuse was that the baggage handler did not load it. I am sorry but if you did not do your job properly and I met your requirements then $100 is not enough. It does not matter I am at home or away my bag is delayed. The excuse was Air Traffic Delays but the delay gave the handlers more time to load my bag and more time to research that my bag was not loaded and that its ready to be loaded. My bag weighed 15 pounds at the most.
I asked for 40,000 miles and more $$$$ Travel Voucher or a check because clearly the baggage handler did not do their job. Everyone else on my flight got their bags now mind you some were connections.
I am glad that nothing was taken and I know that part of traveling is delayed bags but that is more due to late check in, missed connections etc and even then I was informed right away.
Why didn't the captain wait to ensure that my bag made the flight? I wonder why I was not informed but yet when I went to the Delta Sky Club on previous trips Delta called me to ask why I had not retrieved my bag yet and I said I would be down there shortly as I was in the Sky Club.
The Ticket Counter Agent promised it would make my flight.
What would you do? I know that ship happens but the SJC baggage office manager said the Baggage Handler did not follow Delta's procedures and there was no scan that it was loaded. The Delta App should have advised me that my bag was not scanned then I would have told the Flight Attendant etc.
I have TSA Pre Check and the AMEX Delta Gold Credit Card and have been as loyal as possible to Delta. While $100 is a start I felt like a Involuntary Denied Loading of Baggage. I felt punished for following the procedures of Delta to the T. Yes I know bags do get delayed but I mean come on a 500 mile trip without a connection what are the chances?
I asked the SJC baggage office to see about putting it on a SFO or OAK flight and drive it down but they said they could not.
Thanks
Sounds like what you really want is a private jet.
These types of things happen on occasion. It's never fun when it does. But twelve hours is not a long time, there were no out of pocket expenses involved, and you received very generous compensation for your troubles.
