I don't think you'll be able to get the SAN-JFK-DTW leg anymore without jacking the price up a ton. Currently prices are in the $700s if you can position to Las Vegas or Houston. SAN is currently $940++ for your dates.
Your best bet is to use the ITA matrix and play around with dates and departure locations to get the best deal.
