First of all, thank you for your detailed and insightful comments. We finally settled to pick up and drop off car at at Enterprise in San Mateo and 12 day rental would come as $320 while taking Uber to/from there.
However I did go and setup alert at your system to see if original pickup/drop/off at SFO would be any better. Today I got notification. Checked link and see following:
Jun 15, Jun 27
Total due at rental counter: $337.95
Intermediate 4 Door Car with automatic transmission, air conditioning Dodge Avenger or similar
We're sorry, but the price breakdown is not available at this time. Your Total Price is guaranteed.
Great, I am thinking. But I decided to take a closer look at T/C and there is following:
FEES AND CHARGES NOT INCLUDED IN THE BASE RENTAL RATE. *
TRANSPORTATION FEE IS USD 19.00 PER RENTAL. * TOURISM SURCHARGE
IS 3.5 PERCENT PER RENTAL. * VEHICLE LICENSE FEE RANGES
FROM USD .99-2.85 PER DAY, DEPENDING ON THE VEHICLE TYPE.
AIRPORT FEES ARE NOT INCLUDED IN THE BASE RENTAL RATE. *
CONCESSION RECOVERY FEE IS 11.11 PERCENT PER RENTAL.
So taking $338 from above and adding:
$19 transportation charge
3.5% from total - tourism surcharge - $11.83
license fee - no idea, let's take 1.5% per day - $5.07 - 12 days - $60.84
Recovery fee - $37.55
Transportation fee - $19
Add this together - $485 and that's without Airport fee. So $180 savings mysteriously disappeared. and with the airport fee it will be the same $510.
Is above calculation correct?
