I had my partner propped himself up against the wall, with that armrest down ( NZ provided 2 big pillows ), with the other 3 blankets and small pillows, he laid down and curved his body a little, even with his feet laying on top of my legs. He managed to sleep for 4/5 hours and later on, I did take my turn and got my 4/5/6 hours of sleep.
On the return, since we found what worked for us; I drank my wine and took my Ambien, I went to sleep first, and he did his shift last.
Now, we are contemplating going to OZ, via AKL and that nonstop from IAH.
I did see the couple behind us. They were all squeezed in laying on their back, side by side.
Another interesting fact : on the way over, 1 row in front and 1 behind, there was only 1 pax each ( with the Skycouch mat and pillows ) And the flight was showing sold out on the NZ site. Does NZ allows 1 pax to pay 2 Skycouch extra, and occupy 3 seats ?
thanks for the report back - I think I'm too tall to make this work, although my partner would like the closeness I prefer to sleep without touching anyone :-)
