The Heathrow Express looks to have upgraded their 1st class carriage since the last time I used it (got a free upgrade voucher with my Virgin membership) and while happy to use the freebie, I wouldn't pay for it myself as its not worth the money for 15 minutes.
Yeah, I'd probably do the Express to save time on such a short trip, but only the one-way express saver for 22 quid. Based on where you left from near Piccadilly Circus probably would have been the same amount of time and 25 quid cheaper to just hop on the Piccadilly line and take it straight to Terminal 4. Riding the Tube is maybe not as comfortable as the Express, but perfectly fine especially when by yourself with little/no luggage.
