I agree with this, sort of, though the rest of your post is kind of all over the place, so maybe I'm misunderstanding. However what I take away from it is different than what you assert. Specifically, I disagree completely with you on the assertion that to save $5 I would take a 50% cut on points and add a trip to the grocery store. Hampton breakfasts are palatable, I have survived many a week on them, and whether traveling for business or pleasure, the time cost of an added trip is worth more than $5 (plus the cost of food) to me. And at HGI, even if I had no status, I would gladly pay the ~$10 for the buffet because the differential over even the cheapest thing from the grocery store would be only about $5, plus the time savings. So I don't really think tru wins by that calculus.
