Fly to Denpasar is always expensive. It's a place on the middle of nowhere but, thanks for the SE Asia market, you have some good options.

Try NYC-SIN or NYC-KUL (around 175k~190k on Sep). There, you take an AirAsia flight for less than $100 USD RT. How Bali is a place when you go without bags (believe me, you don't need anything more that a t-shirt, a short and a flip-flop), it's fine to do that.

That's what I do every time that I take vacations on that place the world.
