There clearly is a problem when you have "mixed" itineraries, i.e Delta
(Worldspan) and AF metal (Amadeus).
In those circumstances only the Delta metal part comes up on the Delta itinerary site, with the Delta record locator not working on the Amadeus site.
What I have found is, that these itineraries have two record locators, one for DL and one for i.e AF with the AF not only working fine in Amadeus (like "Checkmytrip.com") but there will list even the Delta metal part. But I have also found, that both Delta and AF for unknown reasons are reluctant to give out both record locators, especially the AF one if booking on Delta. I have gotten mine by calling AF and asking for it, but on occaision have gotten into an argument with the AF reservation agent claiming that there is no such thing, and if there was, it will have to be given out by Delta. Delta routinely denies that they have access to it.
For those of us who often travel on mixed metal itineraries, this is quite irritating because there often are equipment changes and subsequent lack of seat assignment or seat re-assignment for no good reason which can come back to haunt you on the day of travel if you are oblivious to these changes until the day of departure.
There appears to be some inconspicouos reason for this lack of electronic cohesion within Skyteam and Is uspect that the reasons are more political/proprietary than practical. This susppicion was supported recently, when I went from my itinerary on the Delta site with a mixed metal itinerary showing only the Delta part to another page and in a flick of a second in between the page change, I showed a page with the entire itinerary, including the AF part, on the Delta site, never to be seen again.
Maybe somebody else (UDH?) can shed light over this chronic annoying problem?
