I agree that the service you received is completely unaccepetable, if not for the poor f/a service alone. If they are not going to offer a meal service, the least they can do is keep beverages re-filled.
I would recommend writing to AS, although I doubt it will engender any changes, considering the current cost-cutting campaign.
