But if you're not able to reach Gold, I'd say PhoenixMiles Silver is quite useless. You only get 25% additional miles and a little bit more baggage. You hardly ever get priority check-in at domestic airports as silver, and lounge only for intl flights, with many restrictions.

Nonethelesss Air China treats Platinum members extremely well, it only takes 160000 km (100000 Miles) to reach but much better than what UA treats its 1K. You get dedicated check-in desks in F check-in, all F services and many secret benefits such as anytime dining in J class.
you also get to redeem CX tickets as Phoenix Miles member. HKG to Europe return is 95,000km on J and 110,000 on F, which is a pretty good deal.
