Pick your seat when upgrading in lounge?
Observed something interesting in the T5B GC lounge.
Chap ahead of me in the line for the customer service desk was paying for a WT to WTP upgrade. WTP cabin was full so service agent asked about seat preference, chap asked for bulkhead aisle, agent quoted a seat number, chap said that's fine. Agent commented while processing payment that he had to move existing WTP passenger up to CW.
So, is this normal? If so, can one request a specific seat when paying for an upgrade (presumably only in a sold out cabin?).
If so, this opens an obviously 2-for-1 upgrade strategy...
