As another DP, the variety is because I have college kids who have been AUs on our accounts since they were kids (I couldn't handle giving them $20 cash for the movies. Instead, I gave them their own AU card. lol) Then at 18 they got their own solo card (I found Amex everyday the easiest to get because they ask about your assets if your income is low, and the kids have been AUs on Amex cards for years). Between 18 - 21, they get mailers maybe quarterly. Once they hit 21 they come pretty regularly. They 18-21 age bracket tends to get the lower spend which is actually great because then I just have them match the 60k offer and I get 60k for the lower spend. Of course the kids have had the advantages of these trips in business class, so it all evens out.
