In the charts the published holds are"race-track" shaped (apparently shape name is obround?), so a continuous turn at each end with a straight and level leg in between. This is entirely typical of normal hold patterns. Published or standard holds for IFR are not continuous turns and not circles though. You are of course going through 360 degrees during one complete hold circuit, but not in one continuous turn.
It is entirely possible to just do a continuous turn giving an orbit or circle, you can see examples of that in the 3rd and 4th FR24 screenshot in my original post. These may be the consequence of being taken out of the hold early, once you initial the exit hold function on the aircraft it basically plots a course back to the hold point so you can imagine if you are asked to exit relatively early in the circuit you end up doing a circle.
