Automatic cars are available, albeit at a slightly higher price then stick. Be aware that Thailand drives Brit style and you will need an intl drivers license if you're stopped by a cop.

How much should I expect to pay for a car rental returning at same location? I guess I would need to learn manual driving first.
Currently leaning towards hiring a driver for one day to black house and white temple, rest of time relax at resort and take uber to city center.
