I'm looking to book an M fare with my credit card companion fare. I am MVPG, my companion has no status.

If the flight is U2, would we both clear at booking, or does companion upgrade only apply in the upgrade window? If not, would I be able to apply a GGU for the companion and upgrade myself without a supporting instrument?
You must be upgraded together, regardless of when it happens, because you can't be in different cabins on the reservation. The only way to get both of you in first at the time of booking would be to book K or higher and use GGUs for both travelers.

EDIT: Wrong! Must be upgraded together: Yes. Needing to using two GGUs: NO.
