Companion Upgrade at Booking
I'm a bit confused about how companion upgrades work on a companion fare.

I'm looking to book an M fare with my credit card companion fare. I am MVPG, my companion has no status.

If the flight is U2, would we both clear at booking, or does companion upgrade only apply in the upgrade window? If not, would I be able to apply a GGU for the companion and upgrade myself without a supporting instrument?
