A short flight with a screamer drives me insane, I can't begin to imagine long haul. I have however invested in some top of the range Bose headphones, I can't recommend them enough in general never mind in these situations (QC35's).

If your children are noisy then it's time for holidays in the car until you can teach them how to behave in public.

Babies there can be more sympathy but heck can't you avoid planes for two years or so?
