I saw this old thread:

I actually want to take my used Herman Miller Aeron chair (size B), put it in bubble wrap and a sturdy box, and take it to my father in another country. He would love a nice ergonomic chair.
The chair (without packaging) weighs 48 pounds and its dimensions are 1,075 x 685 x 518 mm.
I called one airline and they said they will take any box up to 30 kg and dimensions 2,000 x 800 x 750 mm. They can put all the fragile stickers I want.
I think you can unscrew the back of the Aeron chair from the base and lay the back across the seat for shipping. At least that's how it comes shipped from the manufacturer.
Has anyone ever tried this before and does it work?
