BRAND-NEW ROUTE: Santiago - Frankfurt/Main | LUFTHANSA | First Review Ever of this R

This is the trip report of my flight from SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA to FRANKFURT/MAIN, the BRAND NEW ROUTE of LUFTHANSA (1 month old).

BASIC INFO OF THE ROUTE

After a long waiting period, the time finally came for SCQ to make a qualitative step with the entry of one of the best airlines not only in Europe but in the world: Lufthansa.

In this first phase it only operates during the summer season but, seeing the great occupations (on my return flight there was a 100% occupation), LH is studying the daily flight during the summer season with A319 / A320 / A321 or to maintain the operation during all the year. Right now, there are 3 weekly flights to Frankfurt and 1 to Munich with Lufthansa from Santiago de Compostela. In view of the huge demand, there have been several reprogrammings of the initial A319s to A320 / A321 on specific dates.

THE FLIGHT

The flight started with our arrival at the Rosalía de Castro - Santiago de Compostela Airport around 11:00am. After a quick check in of the luggage, thanks to the possibility of doing it at the business desk with the frequent passenger card (Miles&More), we proceeded to move to the air zone of the airport (after the security control).

The A319 arrived punctual (shortly before its estimated time) to Santiago (landing also included in the video) coming from Frankfurt-Main. The 50 minutes stopover that Lufthansa programs on most of its European flights, allows to do them with great comfort. Even more when the plane is an Airbus 319 (the stopover of 50 minutes is a good time even for an A321).

10 minutes after the scheduled start-up time, we started the pushback. After landing in FRA, I asked the pilots why we had been standing in Santiago for 20 minutes with the doors closed. The reason was what I have expected: to adjust for the arrival slots in Frankfurt. I would like now, to say thanks to the pilots for their kindness to let me see the cockpit of the A319 and the pleasant conversion that we had there (once at our gate at FRA, of course). It was my first time in a Lufthansa cockpit (although all the planes are the same).

We took off from runway 35 and we flew at a low altitude during our way to the Cantabrian Sea, approximately 50-60km (I suppose that the reason was to not to interfere in the approach of some aircraft that was making the instrumental arrival to runway 21 at A Coruña, although it is a mere assumption). That allowed us to have great views of the entire area of Coruña, Ferrol, Viveiro ... at a very low altitude. Gorgeous, especially for me, as I've visited those places a lot of times.

Once we leveled altitude in cruise, catering service began (included on the ticket price, of course). They served drinks and a small sandwich to choose: cheese or salami. Later they passed againto offer a second hot drink (coffee, tea ...) although you could perfectly choose another cold one (beer, wine, soft drinks, water ...).

We entered France through Nantes and then proceeded to Paris, city that we crossed from West to East. You can check some awesome views on the video.

Already in the German territory, we began the descent to Frankfurt airport, that was totally under a thick layer of clouds. The runway assigned to our A319 was 27C, where we landed a few minutes before the originally scheduled time. After landing, we taxied to the remote stands in front of Terminal 2, where 2 buses were already waiting to take us to the terminal.

As always, I know that in this forum many people prefer the photo-reports to the video-reports, but I would like to ask you to give this one a chance. I'm sure you'll enjoy the 4K video review that, by the way, is the first review ever of
this route
