Easier than cookie hunting, I find that it is easy to do as a 2 step activity on aa.com
1: Use the drop down at the top to Select Country USA - this switches to USA
2. Now use the drop down a 2nd time - this time leave the country , but there is also a tick box for "Remember this selection? " tick the box and then click select and aa.com will stay on the US site
Good grief, thank you. I can't believe I hadn't figured this out.
This is such bizarre behavior to me. I find when I'm traveling international, the AA.com page will attempt to use the local countries site, literally the first time I access it. Yet, when I come back to the US it literally never seems to recognize it's back in the United States. That strikes me as very strange...
