I don't know if the T&Cs on the OP's cert match what I found via google. Perhaps the OP could update this thread w/ them? That would be interesting information for us all to have.

The Ren may be off the hook & the OP may have a better chance of redeeming in the US.

FAQ

Q. What is a Dinner for Two Gift Certificate?

A. This Marriott Gift Certificate entitles the recipient to a dinner for two including the choice of one (1) complimentary appetizer, salad, entrée, desert and unlimited non-alcoholic beverages per individual at participating Marriott restaurants.

Q. Where can and can't they be redeemed?

A. Dinner for Two Gift Certificates may be used at participating Marriott Hotels & Resorts, JW Marriott Hotels & Resort and Renaissance Hotels & Resorts and Courtyard by Marriott locations outside of North America.

They cannot be used at Courtyard by Marriott Hotels in North America, Fairfield Inn by Marriott, SpringHill Suites by Marriott, Residence Inn by Marriott, TownePlace Suites by Marriott, Execustay by Marriott or Marriott Vacation Club International.

There may occasionally be exclusions to menu items as well. Dinner For Two cannot be applied toward payment of meal plans, catered meals, banquet, room service, special event meals or holiday meals.

Recipients may NOT use this certificate at any of the following restaurants: Primo by Melissa Kelly Restaurant in the JW Marriott Orlando Grande Lakes, Ristorante Tuscany and Hawk's Landing Steakhouse & Grille in the Orlando World Center Marriott Resort, Azul in the JW Marriott Ihilani Resort & Spa at Ko Olina, The View Restaurant in the New York Marriott Marquis, The Pearl Restaurant in the Renaissance London Chancery Court, The Le Pinxo in the Renaissance Paris Vendome or any Benihana, Don Shula's, Jackson's All-American, Pusser's Landing, or Ruth Chris' Steakhouse.

Q. How are Dinner for Two Gift Certificates used?

A. Restaurants should be called first to make reservations. Please confirm with the restaurant that they accept Dinner for Two Gift Certificates first before dining. Gift Certificates should be presented to the server when ordering. (Sharon's note: After 8 years the Ren's probably within its rights of saying participating has changed).

Q. How about taxes and tips?

A. Taxes and gratuity are included in the Dinner for Two Gift Certificate.

Q. Are Dinners for Two transferable?

A. Customers can purchase a Dinner for Two to give to friends and relatives or keep for themselves. Dinner for Two Certificates are not redeemable for cash and are void if sold for cash or other consideration. Any unused portion is non-refundable. No change is given if value of the meal and services is less than $99.

Q. How long do gift recipients have to use their Dinner for Two?

A. There are no expiration dates on Marriott Dinner for Two Certificates. However, after two years, the certificate is worth a maximum of $99 of dinner service.

Q. Will my gift recipients know how much I paid for their Dinner For Two?

A. Yes, the amount of the purchase is printed on the Gift Certificate as the maximum redeemable value after two years.

Q. Do Marriott Rewards or Marriott Miles members receive points or miles for Dinner for Two Gift Certificate purchases?

A. No. However, Rewards points can be earned if Dinner for Two Gift Certificates are purchased with a Marriott Rewards Visa Card.

Q. What if the Dinner for Two Certificate is lost or stolen?

A. It is not replaceable if lost, stolen or destroyed

I think the wishes/horses/beggers thing is hoping MarriottConcierge will get involved at all!

Also here's my take (and it's only my viewpoint). Technically Marriott may have to/should honor the $109US/100E, but the reality is, if the OP is top tier for Marriott & has an actual 'Marriott file', s/he probably should have come across this cert sooner than 8 years later & used the cert before then, vs. taking it to an overseas property w/o checking w/ them in advance to see if they'll accept it & then get bent out of shape when they don't.

I think the OP has a snowball's chance in hades of the Ren accepting the cert before the stay ends & should just deal w/ it when s/he gets back to the US. I would also gently suggest that the OP create a file for all certs, regardless of chains, etc, & check them on a regular basis. Again, I feel his/per pain. I've had certs expire. I still have some Groupon ones w/ similar verbiage, but I'm not going to bang on about them 5 years later (but that's just me).

Cheers.
