Old (2008) Marriott dinner-for-two certificate

I am presently at the Renaissance Amsterdam and wanted to use an old (2008 issued) Dinner for Two certificate that is pretty much pristine and in its original gift envelope at the Scossa restaurant. I found this in my Marriott file at home just before this trip. The certificate indicates that if redeemed after two years after issuance it has a cash value of $109.00.
I checked with the front desk at the hotel and, after having them check with the manager, it was refused; First as having expired (which I pointed out there was no expiration mentioned on the certificate...and then to which they agreed) and then, upon taking it back again to the manager, with a pointed finger at item 15 on the back reading "PARTICIPATING PROPERTIES ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE WITHOUT NOTICE."

Is this for real? There are some listed exceptions (of which this hotel is not included and are higher end specialty restaurants within Marriott properties) but this hotel is not among them.

Can Marriott Concierge help with this so I am finally able to redeem this certificate and be done with rejections and refusals for usage? I would be so grateful. Thank you.
