I pulled this from another site:
Reduced Vertical Separation Minimum (RVSM) is in the airspace between FL290 and F410 with vertical separation to 1,000 feet. The required equipment for RVSM:
- Two independent altimeters
- A device which triggers an alarm when leaving the predetermined FL
- Autopilot that can hold the altitude
- Transponder with height transmission and connection to the height measuring device
If any item on this list is not available, then RVSM is not possible.
