I've got a flight YVR-SEA-FRA-GVA with the first sector on a Y only AC Q40. Remainder of flights on LH in J. I was surprised to see that AC want to charge $15 to choose a preferred seat (first 3 rows) on the Q40. It's a super short flight so it's really not a big deal but I was just curious as to why they wouldn't give one of those seats to a J pax since there is no J cabin on that aircraft.
Will they become available at check-in? Not a big deal as I can sit four rows back for the scheduled 55 min. It just seemed odd.
