Even though there are a ton of seats open and it's an 8am sunday flight, once the agent told me they could automatically confirm my RUC, I took it. If I can guarantee a lie flat seat w/o playing the upgrade game, then a RUC has served its purpose.
And if something comes up forcing you to change flights that day, you can SDC to any other published routing, as long as a seat is open in FC.
