Executive Lounges--

Melbourne Hilton. Very large room with meeting rooms adjoining. Lounge staffers were above and beyond. Friendliest of any Exec. Lounge I've ever been in. Excellent service, remembered names, and very attentive--topped up glasses without having to ask. Breakfast was continental, but lovely fruits, and also cereals, cold meats and cheese, and wide range of breads and muffins. Evening featured free wine, beer, and mixed drinks and nibbles, hot and cold. You could make a meal off them if you were not real hungry. Great view of the Melbourne Cricket Grounds--watched a football game from the lounge.

Hotel does not have wireless or high speed internet except in the business center at the lounge. Sally runs the center and is wonderful. Very helpful and knows her computers. Internet cost in the business center is rather expensive, so if you are not from OZ, you can buy an Optus or Telstra card (with CD) for $14.95 that gives you dial up service from your room.

My room was fine, although the chairs and bedspread were a bit old and ugly. Tram to Flinders Street Station stops right in front of the hotel, and there is a 7-11 and nice interesting restaurants a block east of the hotel. Gardens on the west are beautiful. As Hilton Gold, automatically upgraded to the 17th floor, the non-smoking executive floor.

I really enjoyed the stay and the club staff made it great.
