Sorry to hear of your experience. Personally, I haven't had any problems with delays using AS. That said, parts of the aircraft aren't supposed to go "missing"...hopefully there is more to that story...

Alaska customer service is generally pretty good with providing compensation for delayed flights, so you might write to them and see if they'll give you a discount off future travel.
