I just did NRT-IAH-BWI last week, it's exactly as described by SAT Lawyer.

One thing I would add is that the first TSA option (right after bag re-check) does NOT have Pre-Check. So if you have Pre-Check/GE, you're better off taking the latter option (regular Terminal E checkpoint). Learned this the hard way, again.
