Note to self: Remember this thread if ever tempted to trust any airline to get me to a destination the same day as an important engagement.

I already have this as #2 in SHIB's Inviolable Rules of Air Travel (#1 being: Always pack an extra day's underwear... ), but it is good to periodically reaffirm the resolve.
