Someone I know will soon be travelling from Hong Kong to Bermuda. The flight will be HKG - LGW with Cathay, then LGW - BDA with BA.

Will that person need to collect their bags and check in again in LGW?

The reason I ask is because of her nationality, she is allowed to transit through the UK without a transit visa - provided she doesn't leave the airport or pass through immigration. If she has to collect her bags and recheck them, then she will need a UK transit visa.
