Yeah, when I saw the post title, I too immediately thought that LH flew to Nairobi from FRA. So maybe both of us were just imagining it...???
One alternative I can think of to maximise star operated flights would be to fly to Jo'burg or CPT on LH, and then continue on SAA to NBO.
Also out of the star FFP's I know that atleast LH and BD allow you to earn award miles for SAA flights also. So some consolation there I guess...
