I knew a Gitangali in grade school.
MR points are at their best when transferred into an airline miles program for an award ticket (usually >3c value). The next best use is on AmexTravel.com using the pay with points function (1c value). Any redemption otherwise will be < 1c per mile (gift card, statement credit, etc).
Points are tied to an account and the account needs to have at least one attached card that is compatible with MR points for you to retain the points.
For instance if you have only the Premier Rewards Gold card and you cancel it - your points will terminate. However if you were to product change to an Everyday card with $0 annual fee, you will keep your points since the Everyday card is MR points earning card. If instead you decided to product change to a Blue Cash card (cashback instead of MR points) your current points will not function because Blue Cash is not MR points compatible.
You can transfer points into another persons frequent flyer program or hotel program as long as they are an authorized user on your account. However you cannot transfer your points into anyone else's MR account.
