Actually, overcatering (i.e. stocking more main courses than passengers in the cabin) has been reduced to almost 0 on most airlines, including LX.
However, there is always a good chance that some pax decide not to have a main course (sleep, not hungry etc.) - in which case this becomes available for "big eaters"
