Just so we're all on the same page here

You want to get in to the LAX AC on the outbound (LAX-LHR), since your status and class of service will not get you access?

On the return (LHR-LAX) you will be abe to use the LHR AC because of the class of service.

If the first statement is correct, then the daypass is your best option, but I'm not sure if it's worth it. For $50 you get access to the LAX AC, which is NOT like the LHR AC. The big difference is that at the LHR AC, as you know, the bar is free, whereas at the LAX AC it's NOT. So basically for $50 you get a nicer, more comfy place to sit, but still have to pay for just about everything else. And since that's your home town, why arrive any earlier than necessary.

I could see doing that for the CX Wing/Pier in HKG, but I would not go out of my way to spend any more additional time at the AC than absolutely necessary, and that's if I had access. So to pay $50 for 1 - 1.5 hours of couch sitting is not my idea of spending my money wisely. YMMV

On the other hand, you could try what I did few weeks ago. I had some time to kill in LAX during my domestic connection there and I'm not an AC member, so no entry.
I posted right here on this forum, a plea for anybody that will be there on the day and time I needed to get me in. IT WORKED!!! The beauty of FT.
I did get in with the help of another FTer (MDSD ^ ), and just last night somebody else (ChanelCinq ) got me in at the SFO AC!!!
