Hello everyone.

I am a bit late posting. A few months ago I was asking a few questions about an upcoming flight to Taiwan on EVA from YVR to TPE. Perhaps I was projecting or just bad luck. The flight my spouse and I took was the worst ever. The plane was the aging 747-400.

We paid extra to book seats in the Elite Class. We sat at the end of one row where there were only two seats. We were thinking this should be good because there was nobody behind us. Instead there was a curtain to the back of us and limited reclining ability.

Worst of all, the temperature inside our "space" had reached and stayed a good 30 C or 86 F for most of the flight. We asked the flight attendants to do something but they looked at us kind of funny and simply nodded and walked away.

The other part of the "torture" was our meal service. On the way there, we were giving a respectable meal at around 1AM local time. For our last meal, I got the short end of the stick. I asked for a western meal, but they had already ran out. Remember, we are in Elite seats. However, the flight attendant was helpful and said she would try to locate one. It must've been the cabin pressure and dry air, but I should've realized this might be a bad thing because that's how it turned out.

The flight attendant returned with a tray of barely luke warm greasy AF hash browns and eggs. I took a few bites and I just skipped the meal. It was that disgusting.

We were so relieved to land. A few hours later, I ended up rushing to the toilet every 15 minutes because of stomach cramps and diarrhea. I went to the doctor and I was told I had a virus, perhaps norovirus which I may have gotten from the food on the plane, but of course, that's hard to prove.

Any way, the return trip three weeks later was more predictable and I was better prepared.. Food was pretty crappy and my spouse who has been flying to Taiwan every year for the past 25 years said this is a major decline in the service and quality of EVA Air. We ended up on the same plane and of course, the temps reached at good 86 F for most of the flight. I didn't sleep at all. Temps became very cold upon decent like they opened up the windows.

I emailed EVA and all they did was write back and apologize that I wasn't satisfied with the experience I received. Suffice to say, we won't be flying with EVA again as they just don't [care].
