You can always ask the reroute question as you're considering whether to volunteer.
I was rolling that in to item 2 but I could have been clearer about it. Yes, the impact on connections is a huge variable in VDBing to a later flight. My experience is that GAs sometimes are not willing to discuss reroutes when processing VDBs. They'll say, "We're busy trying to get this flight out, we'll work with you once that's done." In that case I have to assume the worst (~1 day delay) which means a) I'm unlikely to accept at all, and b) if I do it's going to have to be a high offer than typically extended for a 2 hour delay.
