Totally possible that it was an outlier, my only surprise was this was DFW, so a large operation. I would never bank on being happy with what is in the 5* however I am leaning toward the $35 upgrade option. Has any one had a lack of decent upgrades available? That would be my key concern.
I'd check the price differential between the ICAR and PCAR at the time of booking. Also keep in mind that it's not just $35. There is all the garbage taxes and fees lopped on top of this, wich at an airport is often around 25%, so it's more like $40-$45 all-in. Also keep in mind that the upgrade is $35
per day and not per rental.
