787s are have a high degree of shielding for telephone signals regardless, I suspect it is that rather than the window setting. GPS won't easily work either.
I'd noticed the same thing with phone reception on the 787. My assumption was that it was the composite materials on the fuselage more than anything else - perhaps that the very fine metallic weave used to dissipate lightning strikes was more effective as a Faraday cage than a normal all-metal fuselage?
