It is direct flight Narita to JFK on ANA metal. So was thinking would be worth it but still a little hazy on what are valuable reward redemptions. I can't tell if 75,000 one way is expensive or not.
Do the NRT-JFK ANA J. It is worth it by far. Good use of rather worthless UA miles.
I might add that I agree with your original decission. The problem is SFO-EWR in Y on UA, if on a 757 is semi-ok, but if it was on the horrible new 3-4-3 777 no way, no how. Avoid that torture any way you can.bb
